Nadal outplayed Murray in the quaterfinal clash.The second seed triumphed 6-3 6-2 6-4 in just one hour and 55 minutes to reach the semi-finals. A stirring comeback against Richard Gasquet had raised British hopes that Murray might be able to cause an upset. But the 21-year-old appeared weary, while Nadal was superb. The Spaniard did not face a single break point and lost just 10 points on serve. "I played my best match here for sure," said Nadal, who will have to wait to discover his next opponent as Arnaud Clement and Rainer Schuettler were forced to stop playing because of fading light when locked at one set all.
At 1-1, Murray, bowing to relentless pressure from the other end, threw in two errors off the ground followed by a double fault to concede the break.The crowd were, by now, almost silent, seeking a flash of inspiration from their man where none was forthcoming.
